From getting down on one knee at The Art Institute of Chicago where they had their first date, to renting a yacht from Anita Dee Yacht Charters to party it up with about thirty of their closest friends and family afterward, Akhi thought of everything possible to make this the most perfect proposal ever for Jessica!
While Akhi was photoshopping a fake event for The Art Institute of Chicago featuring one of Jessica’s favorite Studio Ghibli movies to get her to come that morning, her family was encouraging her to look nice for a “big family brunch” they were having. She got her nails done and Akhi took her to a hair/makeup appointment that morning before their “brunch.”
We aren’t all so blessed to be looking that good for our proposal, so her family came in clutch. Pretty sure I was in my pajamas when Braxton proposed… And by “pretty sure,” I mean I 100% was.
Anyway! Little did she know, Akhi’s brother, best friend and I were hiding out as soon as The Art Institute opened to follow behind them and capture the biggest moment of her life!
After she said yes, the fun didn’t stop there! Akhi plotted out multiple spots in The Art Institute beforehand for us to run around and recreate shots from another one of their favorite movies (and mine) — Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. We did that as quickly as we could because we still had to Uber to the secret yacht party!
It took a minute for Jessica to notice everyone on the top level of the yacht staring at her. But look on her face when she sees them… SO surprised and happy. Three hours with drinks, dancing, food, and friends was the most incredible way to top off their special day!
Akhi and Jessica met in high school debate. He knew it was love when he left for college and they had to do long-distance for a while. They’ve been together for EIGHT years! So it was never a matter of if, it was when, and his timing could not have been more beautiful. Capturing candid photos was the most important thing to him, and oh, we got that and so much more!
CONGRATULATIONS, AKHI AND JESSICA!!!
