Emerson House Wedding in La Porte, Indiana | Julian + Slendy

It was such an honor to get to capture Julian and Slendy’s intimate wedding at Emerson House in La Porte, Indiana! Julian and Slendy found me on Instagram when searching for their perfect wedding vendor team, and I still remember how stoked I was just after our initial Zoom call before booking.

I loved these two so much right from the beginning. They’re some of the warmest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. Those kind of people you just instantly feel comfortable with and wanna hang out with all the time because they literally just radiate joy and happiness.

Eight years of loving each other, and it’s the most apparent and inspiring love. And from that call to their engagement session at Silver Lake Sand Dunes, to their wedding day and beyond, it’s been nothing but smiles, laughter, and a really bomb playlist.

The day of their wedding, I arrived at Emerson House early. Super glad I did because we had a little dilemma due to the fact that it was supposed to rain… aaand their entire wedding was outdoors. They had gotten a tent the day before, but Slendy had her heart set on no tent. So when their planner Danielle from Unveiled Weddings came to me about it, we decided to stalk the rain radar and do whatever we could to make her wedding dreams come true.

We saw the rain was supposed to be completely over by 4pm when the ceremony began. Danielle made a plan to get their dinner setup out of the tent and into this beautiful space under trees and string lights, and everything was perfect… Then a surprise downpour during their vows!

For some, that would cause a full-on meltdown and people scrambling to get indoors, but not Julian and Slendy. They had prepared plenty of clear umbrellas for everyone, including themselves (highly recommend CLEAR umbrellas)! And their loved ones sat and watched as they finished their vows with the biggest smiles on their faces.

The rain ended by the time the ceremony ended, the photos were gorgeous, the dinner setup was perfect thanks to some awesome tree coverage, and we all had the time of our lives the rest of the evening!
