Engagement Session at Silver Lake Sand Dunes | Mears, Michigan

It was so nice to finally meet these two sweet souls at the beautiful Silver Lake Sand Dunes!

Julian and Slendy booked me for their wedding/engagement session a couple of months ago and I’ve been dying to meet them since our first email exchange. We did a video call once before, but nothing beats spending time with people in person. They have been together for EIGHT years. They fell in love almost instantly after meeting at church, and boy does it show. The way they look at each other and interact is so beautiful to see. I felt incredibly honored to capture it. I cannot wait to celebrate with them finally saying “I do”!

They wanted our time together to feel like “three friends having a good time. Taking awesome pictures and enjoying the moment, not worried about the little things,” and that’s exactly what it was. Seriously. I feel like I could’ve hung out with them, listening to that rad playlist for days. I compiled some of their favorite artists (which also happen to be some of mine) to prepare for our time. Billy Joel, Otis Redding, The Beatles, The Killers, and more! So naturally, a fun time was imminent.

So we had the perfect couple, the perfect playlist… And prepare yourself for what happens when you’re willing to drive to the perfect location. No, seriously. I traveled four hours one way to Silver Lake Sand Dunes, while they traveled FIVE hours one way to get to this amazing location. And we’d all do it again 100%. When you invest in photos, you shouldn’t just settle on any location simply because it’s closest, in my opinion. So I get hyped whenever someone is down to roadtrip and explore to create just as much as I am!

No Slendys were harmed in the making of these photos. Had to end with a bang though, am I right? As you can see, we had a blast! I highly recommend Silver Lake Sand Dunes, or any of the gorgeous dunes across the country such as the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado, Imperial Sand Dunes in California, Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Utah, etc., for your adventurous couple session or elopement!

The open space sand dunes allow for so much movement and emotion to be captured without having things in the background distracting from who we all wanna see (aka YOU). If sand dunes aren’t your thing, that’s cool! I’ve got plenty of other locations I can recommend that will complement your photos just as well.
